The cover art for this album was taken from a painting by David Stuttard.
David was a music teacher by profession and a talented pianist and composer. He began painting at his home in Newton Abbot having retired from teaching in 1985 suffering from M.E. From 1987 until his death in 2009 he produced over 350 oil paintings. Nearly all the paintings depicted scenes from South Devon. He did not focus on the pretty postcard landscapes you might expect from a Devon artist. Instead he focused on the everyday, the ordinary people and the daily routines in over-familiar surroundings, creating something fresh, vibrant and inspiring.
David used to live on the same road as my parents (at the top of the hill in the cover painting). I never knew him but I just remember him sitting on his doorstep watching the world go by.
